The spring has come to us! That means it's getting warmer outside and thus our possibilities to do our ministry are expanding with God's help ;-)
And meanwhile during last month there were the following events:
FIFA community
As usually, almost every Saturday, almost at the same time, at the same place (in the church "Revival" on the metro Zhytomyrskaya) "our" non-believing teenagers and the teenagers whose parents are believers keep coming to our FIFA communities. We have tournaments for them, play table tennis, kicker, we have some yammy sandwiches as a snack for them and the most important - they hear Gospel during our devotion time as well as during the discussion groups time.
For example, we talked about how we act when we offend someone and when we are offended or treated unfairly, also about the words of Jesus that if "someone hits you to your left cheek, give your right one" using the example of the real and famous story from the championship of the world 2006 when Zidane hit Matterazzi with his head. It was really interesting to hear the opinions of our guys. At another FIFA community we used an evangelism tool "Solarium"and talked about what their lives are, what dreams they have and how they would describe their understanding of God. The guys heard the Gospel again through us.
At our last FIFA community our guys learned an interesting technical method to play FIFA, also we discussed the theme of the prodigal son parable. The boys really need to hear this theme of the Heavenly Fatherhood. There were some deep conversations.
Also we have every week the planning meetings with our team at which we also do the analysis of the previous community - what was good and what needs to be improved. Besides this we have our team weekly Bible studies and prayer meetings.
Please pray:
- that those boys who used to come earlier, would come again,
- that God would do His work in the hearts of the boys and would lead us as a team to have a Bible study for those who would be open or something like that,
- that the youth of the Revival church would get more involved into this ministry including the girls for whom i could be a mentor in sharing Gospel and discipleship ;-)
Please pray God would bless to solve the questions on the soccer field and would help us to start Soccer Sport Community - we already have the schedule for this for the upcoming two months, the first Soccer Community will be on April 12th, Lord's willing ;-), but still at the rented field.
With regards to this, please pray for the upcoming project which is called Kids Cup - the soccer tournament , which we organize for the children from the alternative studies schools in the neighbourhood of the church "Revival" (Kiev-Svyatoshin area), pray that the advertisements would reach the principles of the schools and of the parents, pray for all arrangements for this project and for God's leadership. Thank you
The practices and the games with the non-believers in the team "Tigress"
The practices keep going on. By prayers and with efforts God helps to get a little but still improved in my basketball skills ;-) Please keep praying for this ;-)! Also for my spine and for my spring allergy not to stop me, Lord's willing ;-) Also on Saturdays after our early morning practice where it takes me about 1.5 hour to get, our coach hosts us with some cofee and tea. It's a good time for the communication and for building the relationships in the team. Pray that the Lord would open among them to me "a person of peace", who He wants me to bring to the Lord, if it's His will. Thank you ;-)
The discipleship with Katya P. - the basketball coach from Berdychiv
Some of you know that Katya is my friend who I met in the Evangelism Basketball camp in Poland in 2009 and then with whom I served in the Christian Basketball League together. Katya got baptized in 2015. Now I study the course on sharing Gospel and discipleship called VOLT which was developped by Campus Crusade for Christ. I go through it with my mentor, Yulya Shepelenko. And also i teach and mentor accordingly Katya by Skype. It's a blessing! Please pray that God would give possibilities for us not only to study this but to share Gospel and to make disciples in practice, so that God would show to us those "disciple ladies" who He wants to mentor. Thank you ;-)
At the end of March there was a banquet after the basketball awards ceremony among the pupils of KCA (Kiev Christian Academy) . Thank you for praying for us this season. I wished to the ladies "Eagles" that their love for God and for basketball would be the most powerful and the most effective basketball combination ;-)
